Mariana Pinheiro, RIT MFA alumna and current adjunct faculty, was featured for her work on products aimed at assisting children with developmental disabilities. Continuing her work in Studio 9.30, Mariana has endeavored to turn her three projects into businesses. Her projects are Otto, a playful teaching toy, Lilipad, an assistive system of interactive rugs, and Breathe Buddies, a device for promoting healthy breathing and self-awareness. Her work has been nurtured by collaboration with the Al Sigl network of charities, RIT’S Tiger Tank, and the Simone Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
