Professor Marissa Tirone presented at the Foundations in Art: Theory and Education conference on March 26th, 2015. The theme of the conference, “Tectonic Shifts: Breaking New Ground,” investigated issues concerning foundations programs and educational approaches brought forth by foundations faculty and arts professionals.
Tirone’s lecture, “From Precedent to Product: Architectural Principles as the Basis for 3D Design,” explored the potency of architectural educational approaches and their respective applications in 3D Foundations courses, while positing that the present-day blended model is a derivative of previous educational movements. She discussed the use of architecture as a precedent in specific assignments, student work, research, and ideation project phases.
