RIT’s industrial design program successfully completed its second annual T-minus 151 design blitz. Held during the first week of the second semester, 48 student teams comprised of all levels of the program from 1st year Undergraduate to 2nd year Graduate level worked to a single brief developing designs which enabled access and provided a increased sense of security for an aging population. Allegion, America’s premier manufacturer of residential and commercial door hardware systems provided hardware and their expertise to enrich the week long student experience. “I was blown away” said Ted Roberts, Manager of Industrial Design at Allegion, “the energy in the studio was beyond what I was anticipating”. Peter Byrne, Administrative Chair for the School of Design also responded with “truly amazing!” The student teams presented on Sunday, February 1 in the University Gallery. The show runs until Wednesday, February 4th.
