Design Autopsy Opening Reception
The opening reception of this year’s Design Autopsy included the exhibition of ten of RIT’s top Industrial Design alumni and the display of their successful products. All of the featured alumni were present for the opening of the show and offered their expertise to students and faculty through a number of enriching conversations. Following the opening of the show, the crowd moved to Cure restaurant where interactions were expanded upon in an informal and light hearted manner.
Design Autopsy Panelist Discussion
The two days of the 2014 Design Autopsy concluded with a panel discussion with the invited alumni on Saturday afternoon. Moderated by ID faculty member, Senior Lecturer Kim Sherman, the panelists and design students were treated to a lively and engaging two hours of applicable topics including career paths, idea generation, portfolio development and crowd funding among others. The varied mix of design managers, senior design executives and creative leads had us all thinking about such topics as design for others vs. ourselves, experiment by making stuff and “fail forward”.
