Nine students from RIT’s Industrial Design and School for American Crafts program have returned from their summer studies at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad. Each student accomplished their own seating design built from various materials of either solid wood, laminate, or metal.

The DIS Furniture Design program trains students in the full design process of a piece of furniture, normally a chair. Students start with conceptual development and production of working drawings, and end with the building of a full-scale prototype, and the exhibition of final work. Students also examined history, theories, key works, and current expressions of Scandinavian furniture design.

You can view all of their work on our Facebook page and become a fan of RIT ID. The entire set of final photos from DIS can also be viewed on their Flickr stream.
