Four RIT students (Rob Fish, Alex Bennett, Maritza Garcia, and Aaron Jackendoff) are currently participating in the IDO 2012 (International Design Workshop) at Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University School of Design.

The students have been asked to research and address vital issues of aging in the city from a broad designer’s perspective, this year’s IDO Workshop focuses on shopping and transportation for our life experts. Cross-cultural exchanges and insights into local customs will help lead to new understandings and build the basis for innovative concepts.

Four cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams are built from six members of each participating institution / country to handle the project. Students are asked to prepare research reports, conduct ethnographic and market research, develop design strategy and propose concepts for brand / product / systems culminating in a 3 minute multimedia presentation of the final solution and a design report at the end of July. The final solutions will be posted on PolyU’s youtube channel.
