Professor Josh Owen was recently invited to participate in GlassLab, at The Corning Museum of Glass. GlassLab provides designers with rare access to explore concepts in glass. In public “design performances”, designers and glassmakers collaborate, rapidly prototyping design concepts and using the immediacy of hot glass as a catalyst for innovation.
Owen designed three functional vessels that address specific domestic conditions in the bed and bath. The first item accommodates a more sustainable approach to distributing toilet paper, the second is a shallow bowl which manages bedside technology use and the third merges toothbrush holder with a drinking cup to create efficiencies in often cramped spaces. Visit GlassLab’s website to see additional information on the process and Corning’s blog which details Owen’s design concepts behind each prototype.
