Three separate groups from RIT’s Industrial Design department displayed exhibits during this years Imagine RIT festival.
Under the direction of Professor Josh Owen, graduate ID students produced an exhibit titled “Activating the Vignelli Archive”, where products and furniture designs were created based on inspiration from the work of designers Massimo and Lella Vignelli. Students engaged in design research at the Vignelli Center for Design Studies and used their research to generate new designs inspired by the Vignelli’s.
The Big Idea team, under the direction of Professor Kim Sherman and ID graduate student / Visiting Assistant Professor Miguel Cardona flew their custom designed and produced tetrahedron kites over RIT, displaying the word “IMAGINE”.
Under the advisement Professor Alex Lobos, ID seniors Katherine Sears and Domenico Colaprete, presented an exciting laundry detergent concept that addresses environmental issues by minimizing chemical ingredients, water usage and packaging.
