Artist and Professor Lancelot Coar, of the University of Manitoba in Canada, will visit RIT to create a piece of temporary architecture made of ice. The Ice Hut Project will involve Professor Amos Scully’s Form II students, who will be working in teams with with Professor Roberley Bell’s 3D Design students, to propose their own structure and help build the one on RIT’s campus. Construction is set to begin on February 1st and will be up for one week. The dates align with Freezefest run by RIT’s Student Life, who is also partially funding the project.
About Us
At RIT, we believe that industrial design education lies at the nexus of theory, process and practice. Industrial design is a human-centered discipline which requires an understanding of the complex relationships between culture and commerce. Our varied and experienced faculty expose our students to the history, context and state of the art while imparting the skills necessary to compete as contemporary designers.
